Additional FAQs

I am not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements. I am not meeting the 150% Rule requirement and have to submit the Degree Audit Form, which requires an advisor signature, but the college only offers remote services. How can I submit the required documents?

You can complete the Degree Audit Form and have your instructor send you an e-mail stating that they agree with (approve) the classes listed on the form and their email can serve as their signature.

I do not have access to a printer and need to print off verification documents so I can complete them. How can I get a copy of the required form?

You can contact the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@reynolds.edu and request a paper copy be mailed to your home address. Please confirm your address is accurate in your SIS Student Center. Once the form is completed, you can upload it in SIS or mail it to Reynolds Community College, Office of Financial Aid, 1651 E Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23228.

You may also create a Web Case to request documents. Please follow the instructions for creating a Web Case, here.

Can I electronically sign any financial aid forms?

Yes, we can accept a digital signature with time stamp that has been password protected. This is typically a document that has been signed in Adobe. We can also accept a signature with an electronic pen. Lastly, for FAFSA Verification forms we can accept an e-mail from your VCCS e-mail account and this will count as your signature.

Questions about Classes

Will I be penalized if I don't want to take the course online? Can I withdraw and take the same course in the fall?

Withdrawing from a course may affect your completion rate which affects your Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Students must meet a 67% completion rate. Read more about SAP here. If the class is available during the fall semester and it is required for the completion of your program, then you may take the course during the fall semester.

Depending on your other enrollment(s) for the semester, if you drop a course, your financial aid award may change. Monitor your SIS Message Center for updates.

Do we have the option to not take the online course?

At this time, all classes are available in online format only. You have the option to withdraw from the class up to the last day of the semester (or class end date). Withdrawing from courses after the 'last day to drop with a tuition refund' will result in tuition charges.

Can I request a later payment date due to financial hardships now? Can I break a payment up into two payments?

There have been no changes to the Summer 2020 payment due dates. At this time, partial payments are not acceptable. The Business Office can be reached at 1-855-874-6682.

Are you extending the tuition deadline/payment due date?

The Summer 2020 payment deadlines have not been extended at this time.

Will Summer classes be online too?

Summer classes will be online. Summer registration begins April 6, 2020. You can view the Summer course offering catalog online at http://www.reynolds.edu/_onlinecatalog/current/academic-programs/program-listing-A-Z.aspx.

My class was cancelled – what can I do? Will my FA be impacted? Will I get a refund? When?

You will not be charged for a class if it is cancelled. The refund is processed after the census date for that session. Depending on your other enrollment(s) for the semester, your financial aid may change. Monitor your SIS Message Center for updates.

*Important: A class moving to online instruction is not the same as a class being cancelled.

I do not currently have access to the Internet. Will I be held financially responsible for my current courses if I choose to withdraw?

If you withdraw from a class, you are still responsible for tuition and fees. You can look into available internet service options through the Student FAQ.

How can I get my books without going to the bookstore? Can I charge to my Financial Aid in the online bookstore?

Yes, you are able to order your books from the Bookstore online. Orders can be placed on the bookstore’s website, which continues to be open. Follett is offering free ground shipping on all orders. You are able to charge your financial aid in the online bookstore during the charging period. You can view the charging period on academic calendar for each semester. Please keep in mind the deadline for charging books online closes two days prior to the published date on the calendar. This is to ensure all online orders are able to be processed by the last date to charge books. It is essential that students enter their correct ID#. This is a 7 digit number. This is not the username used to log into MyReynolds.

How can I submit documentation to satisfy my financial aid checklist items?

You can submit all checklist items online via your SIS To Do List found on the Student Center page or by e-mailing the documentation to finaid@reynolds.edu. View instructions on how to upload documents on our Financial Aid Forms page. You can mail the Statement of Educational Intent (Notary) to Reynolds Office of Financial Aid, 1651 E Parham Road, Richmond, VA 23228 via USPS.

I can’t renew my EAD card for citizenship because offices are closed. What can I submit in its place?

Students who are authorized for employment ONLY are not eligible for aid. For assistance regarding renewing your EAD card for citizenship, please refer to https://www.uscis.gov/.

Are there other options for submitting financial aid documents?

Yes, you can mail the documents or you can wait to submit when the campuses reopen. You can mail the documents to Reynolds Office of Financial Aid, 1651 E Parham Road, Richmond, VA, 23228, via USPS. Also, documents can be submitted through the Support Center by creating a Case.

How are placement tests being administered?

All Testing Centers are currently closed. Enrolled students should check with their instructors about taking tests and/or assessments. Students not enrolled or those who have other questions should contact the appropriate Testing Center.

How can I report a poor online instructor? They’ve been absent most of the time.

First, contact the Dean of the Division. If you are not able to reach that individual, you are to contact the Dean of Students, Wendy Bolt. If you are unable to reach the Dean of the Division or the Dean of Students, please e-mail Advising@Reynolds.edu.

How do we sign up for summer aid/classes since the campus is closed?

You may apply for summer aid by completing the 2019-2020 FAFSA at studentaid.gov and including Reynolds Federal School code: 003759. If you have already completed the 2019-2020 FAFSA, please log back into your FAFSA, add Reynolds School Code, and re-submit. Withdrawing from classes may still result in tuition charges being due. Please refer to appropriate FAQ questions for further guidance.

Are the classes I enrolled for that start in May still going to start?
